Coachman, a company based in Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa, takes its social responsibility seriously. They believe that educating the youth opens new worlds and possibilities, contributing to a successful and capable nation. Their vision is to empower young minds with knowledge from an early age, inspiring them to build a better South Africa and give back to the community by creating jobs. In April 2013, a highly motivated team from Coachman visited Drake Konka Primary School in Ivory Park, Midrand. They generously donated reading books for the students and exercise books for the teachers. The school principal guided them in identifying the areas that would benefit the most from this donation. Currently, the school library is too small to accommodate all students. However, the school aims to establish a mini library for each of the Grade 1 to Grade 3 classes in the future. This initiative will provide easy access to books, encouraging students to begin reading at an early age and fostering a lifelong love for the written word. Recognizing the challenges faced by teachers, Coachman also donated workbooks. These resources are intended to assist educators in delivering quality education to the learners. Additionally, Coachman supplied new books to enhance the existing school library. They hope that students will enjoy reading these stories and be inspired to create their own. Each book contains a little note with an inspiring message: “Discover a new world through reading!” Coachman sponsored these books as part of their Social and Economic Development Initiative in February 2013. Just as reading allows one to explore fantasy worlds, Coachman’s coaches also offer a way to explore the beauty of South Africa.
