How do you compare apples to apples in the coach industry?Recently the Coach Operators of South Africa a subcommittee of SABOA adopt the following Categories for Buses and Coaches.•Standard/Commuter bus•Semi Luxury Coach•Luxury Coach•Full Luxury Coach•Super Luxury CoachBut what is the difference? The main difference between Semi Luxury and Luxury is the type of seats; the configuration of the seats and the aircon. Luxury seats must be able to recline, the seats must be in a 2x2 or 2x1 configuration, the coach must have an aircon and a Radio/DVD/PA system. As soon as the seats are in a 3x2 configuration then we call the coach Semi Luxury. Also when you look at the difference between a Luxury and Full Luxury or Super Luxury coach remember the following pointers. The Full Luxury and Super Luxury coaches must have a Rear engine, Toilet, Fridge, with all features of a Luxury coach. The main difference between Full Luxury and Super luxury is the double door. If a coach only have one door, but still have all the features it would be called Full Luxury. Note very important that Super Luxury coaches must not be older than 5 years. After the 5 years the coach is only Luxury. So next time ask your Transport provider what is the features on their coaches and know what they quote you on, and what to expect at the pick up point!!
